Filled with the wrong fuel?

Whatever you do, don’t turn on the ignition or start the engine as this will circulate the contaminated fuel and increase the risk of expensive damage. Instead, put your car in neutral and get help to push it to a safe place on the garage forecourt until you get assistance. You won’t be alone, at least 150,000 drivers put the wrong fuel in their car every year. If your misfuelling has gone unnoticed your car will eventually stop and won’t restart.

One solution is to call AA Fuel Assist on 0800 197 9562 or 0870 240 3985. This is a specialist roadside service that drains, flushes and replenished vehicle fuel systems on the spot saving you time, money and inconvenience – and is available to the general driving public and AA members.
