Keep your licence

You’ve probably worked hard (or are still working hard) to achieve your driving licence. The last thing you’ll want to do is lose it, but it’s easy to do. As a new driver, your licence is probationary for two years. Collect just six penalty points (including any carried over from your provisional licence) and you lose your licence. This means you’ll have to retake all parts of your driving test again! You also face a hefty fine and increased insurance premiums. Check out how easy it is to collect six penalty points:

  • Using a mobile phone while driving – 3 points
  • Exceeding the speed limit – 3-6 points
  • Using a vehicle with defective tyres – 3 points
  • Driving without due care and attention – 3-9 points
  • Dangerous driving – 3-11 points
